Laurinburg Historical Photos

Laurinburg is my hometown. Some of these photos depict things that were already lost to history before my era.

I was born at Scotland Memorial Hospital in 1953 and lived in the 'burg until 1957 with my grandparents who lived on E. Covington and E. Vance St. My Dad was also born, raised and married there. My Mom (Doris Godsey) was originally from Fayetteville but grew up in Laurinburg and was valedictorian of her class at LHS in 1948. I returned in 1974 to work with Community Antenna and left again in 1980. Our family traces back to John Meacham who settled in Richmond County, NW of Ellerbe in about 1790.

Below is listed an accumulation of historical photos, mostly from old postcards, of attractions of that era. The dates indicated were offered by the original posters...may or may not be perfectly accurate.  If anyone would like to submit additional photos of interest, I'd be happy to display them here.
